Holy Family School a beacon of pride on the east side.

Holy Family is a small Catholic School on Erie's lower east side. Holy Family was founded in 1915 by the late Father Andrew Jurcak, then pastor of Holy Family Parish. The first classes were held in the basement of Holy Family Church until the parish could afford a separate school building. The present building was opened in September of 1949 under the leadership of the late Msgr. Stephen H. Meko. Holy Family School has educated thousands of children by dedicated religious and lay faculty members for over 85 years. Today Holy Family School continues to serve the families of East Erie helping to develop strong moral and religious values.

The mission of Holy Family School is to be a beacon of Christ’s light, while guiding the development of the whole child – spiritually, intellectually, socially, physically, and emotionally.

The philosophy of Holy Family School centers around the whole person – spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically.

We recognize that it is in the Gospel of Christ that the Catholic school finds its definition as it comes to terms with the cultural conditions of the times. We seek to impart the basic scriptural, doctrinal, moral, and social beliefs of the Catholic Church. “Instruction in religious truth and values is an integral part of the school program. It is not one more subject alongside the rest, but the underlying reality.” (To Teach as Jesus Did)

Our objective is to provide a rigorous academic curriculum that encourages critical reasoning and creativity. In addition to a core curriculum, which includes religion, language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and computer, Holy Family School provides fine arts experiences in music and art classes and introduction to a foreign language.

Since all students desire a feeling of connectedness, Holy Family provides opportunities for students to be involved in the parish and community through a variety of service projects.

We offer instruction in religion, health, and science classes so that all students will gain a respect for and the knowledge necessary for the maintenance of their own physical and mental well-being. Physical education classes provide an avenue for both cooperative and competitive interaction.

Holy Family offers a number of different features.
